Former NHLer Jeremy Stevenson joins Gorillas

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are pleased to announce former NHL left winger Jeremy Stevenson as the latest addition to the Gorillas 2006-07 roster. Stevenson, the 60th overall pick in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, comes to Amarillo with 12 seasons of professional hockey experience along with 9 separate stints in the National Hockey League. Most recently, Stevenson split time between the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars, suiting up for 35 games in Nashville last season before finishing the final 16 games with the Stars. All tolled, Stevenson has played in 207 career NHL games tallying 19 goals and 19 assists during his NHL tenure. Stevenson has also suited up for 21 Stanley Cup Playoff games in his career and recorded 5 assists during the NHL Playoffs.

Stevenson, 32, was originally drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the third round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and was then re-drafted in round 11 of the 1994 Expansion Draft by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. Stevenson played his first professional hockey game in 1994 when he suited up for the Greensboro Monarchs of the East Coast Hockey League. Stevenson played 43 games that season registering 14 goals, 13 assists and 231 penalty minutes. The San Bernardino, California native then saw his first NHL action during the 1995 season playing 3 games for the Mighty Ducks. He recorded one assist and 12 penalty minutes during that brief stint, which was merely a foreshadowing of things to come. Stevenson remained in the Anaheim system for 5 years and through 56 games with the Mighty Ducks, Stevenson recorded 3 goals and 6 assists while racking up 134 penalty minutes.

From there, the 6'1", 215 pound power forward moved on to the Nashville Predators organization where he saw the majority of his NHL playing time. In 4 separate stints with the "Preds," Stevenson played in 100 NHL games tallying 10 goals, 7 assists and 225 penalty minutes. Stevenson also spent 2 seasons with the Minnesota Wild and most recently finished out the 2005-06 campaign with the Dallas Stars.

This will be Stevenson's 13th professional season and during the course of his 637-game professional career, Stevenson has compiled 115 goals, 115 assists and 1999 penalty minutes.
