Hounds Fall Short in First Ever Home Exhibition Game
The SteelHounds lost 4-3 in a shootout to the ECHL's Dayton Bombers on Friday, October 13th, in their first ever home exhibition game. The contest was highlighted by a three point night for returning forward Chris Shaffer (2-1=3). Paul Esdale also scored for the Hounds.
Return of Hounds Happy Hour!!!
The SteelHounds weekly Monday night radio show made its season debut on Monday night on ESPN Radio 1240 The Fan. The show airs from 7-8 p.m. every Monday night throughout the season with your host, "The Voice of the SteelHounds, Chad Meyer. The show will feature player interviews, previews of upcoming games, SteelHounds trivia for prizes and more.
Home Opener Slated for the 27th
The Hounds Home Opener for the 2006-07 Season is set for Friday night, October 27th against the Rocky Mountain Rage. Tickets are still available at the Box Office, or you can purchase them by calling (330)747-PUCK. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
Top Scoring Line In tact
The SteelHounds return their top scoring line from a year ago in Jeff Christian, Chris Richards and Joey Sewell. Christian scored 55 goals last year, and finished second in the league MVP voting last year. Top Playmaker Chris Richards had a career year in 05-06, finishing with 22 goals and 70 assists while finishing second on the team with 92 pts. Last but not least, Joey Sewell, a late season acquisition via trade, made an instant impact. In 23 games played, Sewell scored 21 goals with 18 helpers for 39 points.
Overcome Turtle Trouble
The Hounds will look to get out of the gate early as they start the regular season in Memphis where they will face the RiverKings for two games on Friday October 20th and Saturday the 21st. The SteelHounds struggled against the RiverKings last year winning just once in nine chances. Ryan Campbell, Derek Landmesser and Louis Dumont are the RiverKings top players.
