Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage hockey club acquired free agent and right winger John DiPace (dih-PACE) for the 2006-07 inaugural season. The Rage also released four players from training camp today bringing the roster to 20. The active roster must be reduced to 18 by Thursday as required by the Central Hockey League.

Forwards Steve Devine, Jesse Moe, Caleb Moffat and defenseman Jon Hutcheon were all placed on waiver.

"Everyone came out to play hard during the first week of training camp and in the pre-season games last weekend. There are some players that just really opened our eyes more than others," said head coach Tracy Egeland.

DiPace, a native of Clinton Township, Mich., will enter his fifth professional season. He played the past three seasons in the United Hockey League (UHL). He posted 67 points on 31 goals and 36 assists in 74 games with the Richmond Riverdogs last season. He racked up 224 penalty minutes. He also added four points in three playoff games. DiPace previously played for the Flint Generals (2003-05) and helped the Detroit Lightning to the 2002-03 Continental Elite Hockey League Championship.

Rocky Mountain opens the regular season on Friday (Oct. 20) when they travel to face the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. After beginning their inaugural campaign with six road games, the Rage then returns home for their first-ever game at the brand new, state-of-the-art Broomfield Event Center on Friday, Nov. 10, against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 p.m. The Rage is one of two expansion teams in the Central Hockey League's 17-team field. The Rage join the Eagles, Oklahoma City Blazers and Wichita Thunder in the Northwest Division.
