Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage hockey club today announced defenseman and assistant coach Dan Vandermeer as the captain for the 2006-07 during a press conference at Media Day at the new Broomfield Event Center. Anders Strome (Left Wing) and Kyle Kos (Defenseman) were selected as home-game assistant captains, while Nick Warriner (Center) and Dorian Anneck (Right Wing) were selected as away-game assistant captains. Assistant captains will swap game-assignments mid-season.
The designated captains for the Rage season will be responsible for representing the team during any discussion with the Referee along with honor of being the team's leaders on and off the ice.
"The team picked a great group of captains. They are good leaders and personalities. They are who I would have picked," said Trace Egeland, head coach.
Rocky Mountain opens the regular season on Friday (Oct. 20) when they travel to face the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo. After beginning their inaugural campaign with six road games, the Rage then returns home for their first-ever game at the brand new, state-of-the-art Broomfield Event Center on Friday, Nov. 10, against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 p.m. The Rage is one of two expansion teams in the Central Hockey League's 17-team field.
