
Former Mallard Called Up to NHL

Moline, IL-The Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL) announced yesterday that former Mallards forward Frantisek (Fayro) Skladany has been recalled to the NHL. It marks the sixth time in the Mallards' 11-year history that a former Mallard has been placed on an NHL roster. Former Mallards Jean Guy Trudel, Cam Severson and Sebastien Charpentier all skated in the NHL while Martin Hlinka and Jason Ulmer both spent time on NHL rosters without playing in a game.
Skladany played 50 games with the Mallards during the 2004-05 season. He scored nine goals with 11 assists for 20 points. During the team's opening round playoff series vs. Muskegon, the 23-year old native of Martin, Slovakia scored one goal with one assist for two points in seven games.
This year, Skladany has played 21 games with the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters. During his time in Lowell, Skladany had a goal and four assists for five points in 21 games. He also played nine games with the ECHL's San Diego Gulls this season. In San Diego, Skladany had five points on two goals and three assists.
The Mallards are in Rockford on Wednesday night for the first of three games in five days vs. the Hogs. Game time is 7:00 p.m. with the Maroon Mortgage Pre-Game Show beginning at 6:35 p.m. During the intermissions, stay tuned for the Swiss Valley Farms Intermission Report. After the game, the Allstate Insurance Christy Cox Post-Game Show is on the air.
The team returns home on Sunday, January 8th for a 1:00 p.m. game vs. the Hogs. It's the third meeting between the Mallards and Hogs this week.
