New Jersey Jackals News Release
Former Jackals RHP Robert Stock, who pitched for the club in 2016, made his major league debut on Sunday, June 24 for the San Diego Padres after being called up from Triple-A El Paso.
Entering the game in the tenth inning, Stock held the San Francisco Giants scoreless in one inning of work, striking out two hitters in the Padres' eventual 3-2, 11-inning defeat.
Stock's contract was originally purchased by the Cincinnati Reds from the Jackals during the 2016-17 off-season, and the Bellevue, Wash., native split the 2017 season between the Reds' Single-A and Double-A affiliates. He then signed with the Padres' organization for 2018, starting at Double-A before being promoted to Triple-A in late April. Stock had a combined 1-0 record with a 1.95 ERA in 28 relief outings this year.
In 2016, Stock appeared in 52 games out of the bullpen for the Jackals. He pitched to a 2.85 ERA and earned five saves as he moved into the closer role in the later portion of the season. Stock punched out 73 batters in 60 innings while with New Jersey.
The 28-year-old out of the University of Southern California is the 15th alumnus of a Can-Am League club to play in the major leagues, and the sixth former Jackal.
We wish Robert the best of luck in his Major League career!
