Sussex County 7, Ottawa 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

It was all Sussex County in game one of a doubleheader as they defeated Ottawa by the score of 7-2. The Miners scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings of play and would never look back en route to the big victory.

Sussex County RF Breland Almadova led the way offensively going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored and a stolen base. Miners 2B Rubi Silva added three hits in four at-bats along with an RBI while 3B Mikey Reynolds plated two runs and drove in one in a 1-for-3 game.

Starting pitcher Cory Jones went the distance in notching the win for Sussex County. Jones threw 112 pitches and allowed two earned runs on six hits to go with five strikeouts. The righty is now 4-1 on the season.

Ottawa 2, Sussex County 1 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

Ottawa gained a split in the twinbill as they beat Sussex County in game two by a 2-1 score. The Champions scored the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the fifth inning when leadoff hitter Coco Johnson singled home 2B/C Tyler Nordgren from second base.

Johnson had a solid game driving in both runs and scoring one of his own in a 2-for-2 outing. Nordgren went 1-for-2 with a run scored while SS Daniel Bick,1B Vincent Guglietti and CF Chase Harris each chipped in a hit in three at-bats.

Ottawa starting pitcher Steve Borkowski tossed five solid innings and picked-up his second victory. Borkowski allowed an earned run on four hits and struck out two batters.

For the Miners, RF Rubi Silva went 2-for-3 and plated the lone run.

Hollywood 8, Trois-Rivieres 5

The Hollywood Stars notched their first victory as they defeated Trois-Rivieres by an 8-5 final. Hollywood trailed 2-0 through the first five innings of action before tallying five runs over the sixth and seventh to nab an 5-3 lead. After the Aigles tied it up at 5-5 in their half of the seventh, the Stars plated three in the ninth to take the lead for good and clinch the win.

Hollywood pounded out 16 hits in the contest with five batters having multi-hit games. Stars CF Michael Hungate went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs while 1B Chris Kwitzer plated a run and drove in three in a 3-for-4 day. Second baseman Aaron Stubblefield, SS Robert Garza and C Jackson Pritchard each chipped in a pair of hits for Hollywood.

Stars pitcher Lance Fairchild tossed a scoreless inning of relief and notch the victory. Fairchild gave two hits and two walks to go along with a strikeout.

Rockland 9, Salina 8

Two consecutive bases loaded walks in the bottom of the ninth inning won the game for Rockland as they beat Salina in a walk-off, 9-8. The Stockade scored three runs in top of the ninth to reclaim an 8-7 advantage but could not record an out in the bottom frame as they walked four of the five batters that came to the plate and lost the game.

Boulders CF Mike Montville led the way offensively going 2-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored and an RBI while 1B Mikael Mogues plated a run and drove in three in a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate. Rockland leadoff hitter JC Rodriguez also added a solo home run.

Boulders pitcher Matt Kostalos threw 2/3 of an inning of scoreless relief to nab the win. Kostalos, who won his first game of the year, struck out one in the two batters faced.

With the win, Rockland completed the sweep of the Stockade and have now won four in a row.

Quebec 6, New Jersey 5

Quebec tallied a pair of runs in the top of the ninth to take a 6-3 lead and would hold off a late surge by New Jersey in the bottom frame to win by a run. After trailing 2-0 through one inning of play, the Capitales scored four consecutive runs to take the lead at 4-2. The Jackals would plate a run in the eighth to cut the deficit to one but Quebec sealed the victory with the two-run ninth.

Second baseman TJ White led the offense for the Capitales going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Quebec SS Yordan Manduley added three hits in four at-bats and drove in two while 1B Lachlan Fontaine scored a run in a 1-for-3 outing.

Capitales Ryan Searle gave up two earned runs over six innings of work to earn his league lead tying fifth win of the year. Searle gave up three walks and three hits while fanning three hitters.
