Former Everblade Lojek makes NHL debut

ESTERO, FL - Former Florida Everblades defenseman Martin Lojek made his National Hockey League debut with the Florida Panthers on Saturday night at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL, in a 7-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Lojek skated 19 shifts for the Panthers totaling 12:32 and included some power play time.

Lojek is the 13th former Everblade to skate in the NHL and is the 316th player to play in the NHL after playing in the ECHL, and becomes the second former Everblade this season to make his NHL debut, joining Drew Larmen who skated in his first NHL game with the Panthers on November 13.

Selected in the fourth round by the Florida Panthers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old defenseman had 14 points (3g-11a) and 40 penalty minutes in 45 regular season games and played two games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the Everblades while also playing in the AHL for Rochester where he had two points (1g-1a) and 16 penalty minutes in 15 games.

The native of the Czech Republic hass spent the entire 2006-07 campaign in Rochester where he has picked up 14 points (4g, 10a) and leads the Americans with a plus-19 rating in 41 games.

Lojek joins Keith Aucoin, Eric Boulton, Shane Hnidy, Greg Koehler, Greg Kuznik, Drew Larman, Chad LaRose, Brett Lysak, Eric Manlow, Jason Morgan, Remi Royer and Damian Surma as former Everblades players that have played in the NHL.
