Trenton Devils News Release
CINCINNATI, OH (February 4, 2007) - The Trenton Titans allowed the Cincinnati Cylones to battle back from a two-goal deficit late in the third period, but were still able to secure the 6-5 victory in overtime on Sunday afternoon at the USBank Arena.
It seemed as though Scott Bertoli had put the game away for Trenton when he made the score 5-3 with 7:04 left in regulation when he completed a 2-on-1 with Troy Riddle for his tenth of the year.
The Cyclones refused to go quietly, however, as Sam Ftorek's quick one-timer got by Joel Martin at 15:36 of the third. Using the man-advantage, Cincinnati would complete the comeback with 1:23 remaining in the contest when Jean-Michel Daoust dug the puck out of a scramble in front of the net and sent it across the goal line.
The two teams would head to the overtime where Mike Pandolfo's heroics gave the Titans the win, tipping Olivier Magnan's point shot past Cedric Desjardins for his 33rd goal of the season.
Trenton put two goals together in just thirty-five seconds to take a two-goal lead heading into the second intermission. Benoit Mondou put Trenton back up by one when he pulled out from behind the net and faked a pass before sneaking a backhander into the top corner at 19:23. Jim Henkel was also on the receiving end of a Riddle pass that the forward wristed home with 2.6 left until the break.
Martin stopped 30-of-35 to raise his record to 12-10-2. The Titans went 1-for-4 on the man-advantage and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Titans continue their six-game road stretch on Friday, February 19 at 7:35pm against the Augusta Lynx. Tune into 91.3FM-WTSR to hear all of the Titans action or listen or watch live at www.trentontitans.com courtesy of via B2 Networks.
