INDIANAPOLIS - The American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs announced Saturday that they have assigned forward Tyler Barnes to the ECHL's Indy Fuel. The forward is expected to play Sunday afternoon as the Fuel host the Atlanta Gladiators at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.

Barnes, 26, has recorded five shots on goal in five games with the IceHogs in 2016-17. The 6-foot, 194-pound forward has produced nearly a point a game in two years in the ECHL, accumulating 58 goals and 77 assists in 135 games split between the Missouri Mavericks and Toledo Walleye.

A native of Burnsville, Minn., Barnes led the Brabham Cup-winning Mavericks with 61 points (24g, 37a) in 69 games in 2015-16, a year after winning the John A. Daley Trophy as the ECHL's top rookie with the Walleye. The University of Wisconsin product set a franchise record and led all league first year players with 74 points (34g, 40) in 71 games in 2014-15, earning ECHL All-Star and All-Rookie honors while helping Toledo to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Barnes finished his collegiate career with the Badgers with 100 points (44g, 56a) in 152 total NCAA contests. The former Waterloo Black Hawk helped Wisconsin to a WCHA Final Five title in 2012-13, where he was named to the All-Tournament Team.
