GENEVA, Ill. - Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett's no-hitter against Philadelphia Sunday afternoon has strong relevance to the Kane County Cougars organization. Beckett played for the Cougars in 2000 and becomes the third Cougars alumnus to throw a Major League no-hitter, joining A.J. Burnett (no-hitter in 2001) and Dallas Braden (perfect game in 2010).

Beckett went 2-3 with a 2.12 ERA in 13 appearances with the Cougars in 2000, and made his big league debut with the Florida Marlins (then affiliated with the Cougars) in 2001.

Just last week, a pair of Cougars pitchers, Tyler Skulina and Nathan Dorris, combined for the 8th no-hitter in Cougars history.

The Cougars, Class-A farm team of the Chicago Cubs, has had more than 125 players reach the Major Leagues. The list includes Major League All-Stars, World Series champions and former MVP, Rookie of the Year, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award winners.
