Bees Win Two on Sunday

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees (24-24) defeated the Quad Cities River Bandits (24-25) twice on Sunday afternoon at Community Field, downing the River Bandits 12-4 in the resumption of the suspended game from may 21 st and holding on 3-2 in game two.

With the suspended game tied at four in the top of the ninth the Bees' offense erupted, scoring eight runs highlighted by three run homers by both Kody Eaves and Angel Rosa as the Bees went on to win 12-4.

Bees' reliever Trevor Foss (1-3) earned the win while Edison Frias (1-3) was pegged with the loss.

In the regularly scheduled game, Quad Cities jumped out in front 1-0 in the second inning in game two if the day as Jack Mayfield hit a solo shot to left field. In the second the River Bandits extended their lead to 2-0 on a sacrifice fly from Chan-Jong Moon.

Eric Aguilera put the Bees on the board in the fourth, crushing the first pitch of the inning over the right field wall cutting Quad Cities' lead to 2-1.

Harris Cooney kept the game close retiring 14 straight River Bandits' hitters to end his outing.

Brandon Bayardi put the Bees on top for good with a two run double in the seventh inning, scoring Erick Salcedo and Eric Aguilera.

Bees' starter Harrison Cooney (3-3) earned the win while Quad Cities' reliever Frederick Tiburcio (0-1) was charged with the loss. Ben Carlson (3) earned the save.

The Bees and the River Bandits continue their three game series on Memorial Day at Community Field at 2:00 PM. Ryan Etsell makes the start for the Bees against Adrian Houser for Quad Cities.
