Finlandia University Lions freshman forward Ryan Sullivan from Marquette, MI has been honored as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA) Freshman-of-the-Week.
In Friday's game, Sullivan was even on +/- in the loss while playing on power play and penalty kill. Then on Saturday, he helped spark the Lions to the win when his goal gave Finlandia the 2-1 edge, a lead they would not relinquish in the 6-3 victory. He also added an assist on Saturday and finished +2 for the game.
"This is a well deserved award," said Joe Burcar, Finlandia head men's hockey coach. "Ryan played great on power play kills. He has been able to step in as a freshman and help us out right away. This a great award for Ryan and Finlandia's men's hockey program."
Sullivan played for the Bighorns 2003-2005 and was a top knotch penalty killer. Bighorn President, Mike Butters claimed "It is an extremely proud moment for Ryan and our organization."
