Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
(Fargo, ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets are proud to announce that fans at their November 25th home game, donated approximately 200lbs of non-perishable food items. Coupled with the team's canned food drive on October 31, the FM Jets' month-long food donation push generated nearly 300lbs of food items.
All of the food items are going to the Great Plains Food Bank. This year, over 15,000 people in the Fargo-Moorhead community will turn to emergency feeding programs supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank for help. Nearly 300 shelters, soup kitchens and other charitable foundations in the area, and all over North Dakota, rely on the Great Plains Food Bank.
"We'd like to thank all of our fans who generously donated what they had" said Jets' general manager Randy Nielsen. "The holidays are not only a time for us to be with families, but a chance for us to realize there are others out there who need our help."
The food drive is part of a more concentrated effort by the FM Jets to help various charitable foundations. The Jets have donated over 2,000 tickets for use in various fundraising auctions and will also be holding their second annual Teddy Bear Toss for charity on December 16.
The FM Jets are the 2005 Borne Cup Champions and are entering their third season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 30th year of operation.
Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at STAR 103.9 and fmjets.com.
