2007-2008 Team Player Awards Announced

April 2, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

(Fargo, ND) The votes are in on another fabulous season in the North American Hockey League for team awards.

The Most Valuable Player goes to Marc Mihulka (Grand Forks, ND) for his demonstration on the ice as a go to scorer. He led the team with 53 points (20G, 33A) and never showed signs of letting up either.

The Most Improved Award is handed out to Michael Benedict (Thief River Falls, MN) for his patience because early on when he got in the line-up he made a name for himself. Benedict fought hard and knew what it meant to earn a roster spot with tenacity.

The Rookie of the Year is held by Pat Deitz (Moorhead, MN) for his step up role as a first year player. Deitz capped off the season with a goal in Alexandria and had 24 points (4G, 19A).

The Iron Man award is etched in stone to Andy Dittus (Minot, ND) for his never giving up after broken collar bones on separate occasions. Dittus ripped off a team leading six goals before heading to the DL in October and again in December. It was without a question he's the most deserving of this award because in his final year of junior hockey he was limited to 35 games still collecting 17 points (10G, 7A).

The John E. Carlson Coliseum Award is given to no other than Jordy Trottier (Bozeman, MT) for his role off the ice. When ever there was community event around the area it was Jordy who was the first to sign-up and last to leave. Also when the Jets were on "The Fox Morning Show" every Thursday, we had no problem getting him on the microphone to the ranting crowd! Trottier finished another season in red and black with 44 points (16G, 28A).

The Unsung Hero Award is sung by Marc Harrie (Fargo, ND) because he does nothing but get the job done on and off the ice. Marc goes at 125 mph whether it's in practice or game day skates. Besides Jordy, Marc is another leading in joining the morning show on multiple occasions. Harrie leaves the Jets as the leading goal scorer of the season and had 44 points (21G, 23A). "If you go into the corner for the puck you better watch your back because Marc Harrie's coming and he doesn't care how big you are," Mark Weiby.

The FM Jets Junior A Hockey Club is in its fifth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 32nd year of operation. For more information, visit fmjets.com or call (701) 235-2354.

Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcasted on Today's Hot New Country 103.9 THE TRUCK, video broadcast through B/2 Network and audiosportsonline.com.
