Toronto Argonauts News Release

Mississauga – The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that former NFL quarterback Scott Covington has signed with the club. Covington comes to the Boatmen after spending time with the Cincinnati Bengals, the St. Louis Rams and most recently the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 29-year old was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round (45th Overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft, just 18 picks after current Argo QB Michael Bishop. Other CFL notables who were also taken in that draft class include Winnipeg's Wane McGarity, Montreal's Marc Megna and Hamilton's Craig Yeast. A more extensive list is available at the bottom of this release.

In 1995, Covington left his hometown of Fresno, California and traveled east where he was recruited to play for the renowned University of Miami Hurricanes football program. Known throughout the NFL for his acute intelligence, Covington matured into the starting QB role in his senior season and led the Hurricanes to the 1998 Micron Bowl Championship where he was named game MVP.
