Niagara IceDogs News Release

Mississauga, Ont. (Friday, Jan. 12, 2007) - The Mississauga IceDogs traveled to Sault Ste. Marie this evening and were rudely welcomed, especially by one of their former allies. Greyhounds forward Dustin Jeffrey collected a hat trick and the home squad notched a 7-3 win. As a result, the IceDogs record dips to 25-14-0-2 on the year.

The two clubs traded goals early on. Cody Thornton made it 1-0 for the Greyhounds, off of Jeffrey and Chris MacKinnon feeds 1:03 into the affair, on the power-play. The IceDogs responded with a Travis Fuller goal at 13:51, with the support coming from Oskar Osala and Scott Fletcher (first assist with Mississauga).

Unfortunately, the Greyhounds owned the next twenty minutes, producing Jeffrey (2), David Kuchejda and Andrew Desjardins goals. The assists were credited to Thornton (2), Desjardins, MacKinnon, Andrew Campbell and Brandon MacLean.

Mississauga's Chris Lawrence exacted revenge on his former club with a goal at 12:57 of the middle frame, on the man-advantage, off of Josh Day and Michael Swift passes, to make it a 5-2 game. However, the Greyhounds added two more tallies, from Jeffrey and Matthew Lyall, to put the game out of reach and nullify Stefan Legein's unassisted, shorthanded goal at 9:05 of the 3rd period.

Lucas Lobsinger stopped 20 shots for the IceDogs while Kyle Gajewski responded with 29 saves for the Greyhounds. The IceDogs were 1 for 7 on the power-play while the Greyhounds were 2 for 6. The game's three stars were Jeffrey (1st), Thornton (2nd) and Kuchejda (3rd).

The IceDogs complete the weekend by visiting the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Then, they travel to Toronto to challenge the St. Michael's Majors on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to entertain the Barrie Colts next Friday evening (January 19) at 7:30 p.m.

IceDogs tickets can be purchased by calling the team at 905-502-7788, by contacting Ticketmaster at 416-872-5000 or www.ticketmaster.ca, and by visiting the Hershey Centre box office during regular business hours or prior to the puck drop.
