Colten St. Clair and Colton Hargrove each scored a shootout goal to propel the Fargo Force to victory over the Omaha Lancers. It was the first shootout of the year for Fargo (5-3-1) and their third extra session game.
A trio of players that will represent Team USA created the first goal of the night for the Force. Brian Cooper and St. Clair set up Garrett Allen for his second goal of the season at the 15:03 mark of the first period.
Seth Ambroz scored early in the second period to tie the game for Omaha. Colin Markison gave the Lancers their first lead of the game with a power play goal 11 minutes later.
In the third period, Fargo leaned on their leading scorer, Jimmy Murray. Early in the frame, Willie Corrin picked up his first USHL assist on a goal by Murray that tied the game. Detroit Lakes product Tanner Lane earned the secondary assist on the goal.
Omaha dominated the overtime session that saw the Lancers fire eight shots on goal. Ryan Massa stopped each them all to send the game to a shootout. Massa, who was playing in his fourth straight game, made 34 saves.
Todd Matthews made 24 saves between the pipes for the Lancers.
St. Clair started the shootout with a goal for Fargo. Tanner Kero and Mullin both failed to connect before Hargrove buried his opportunity to seal the game. Massa stopped all four shooters to pick up his fourth win of the season.
The Force will play game two of four straight road games Saturday night in Sioux Falls. The two teams met in Fargo last weekend, with Sioux Falls coming away with a 2-1 overtime victory.
