Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce lost to the Yakama Sun Kings tonight 128-121 (6, 1) to move to 1-2 on the young season. The Sun Kings shot a blistering .536 from the three-point line (15-for-28) and it proved to be the difference in the high scoring affair. The Sun Kings improved to 3-1 and sit a top the Western Conference.
The âForce jumped out to a quick 7-point lead (11-4), however the Sun Kings bounced back and led by as many as 10 points as they won the first quarter 38-31 behind 12 points from Geno Carlisle. The Sun Kings pushed the lead to 19 points early in the second quarter behind three straight three-pointers. The âForce would cut the deficit to nine points as they went into halftime trailing 65-56. Yakama won the second quarter 27-25. The Sun Kings would again push the lead to 17 points and went into the final quarter with a double-digit lead (94-83). Josh Mueller made things interesting in the fourth quarter as he made three three-pointers and the âForce got within five points (116-111) with just over 3:00 to go in the game. However Cheyne Gadson hit a timely three-pointer that took the air out of the Skyforce faithful. The âForce would take the final quarter 38-34 to salvage one quarter point in defeat. Brandon Hunter had another outstanding effort in defeat as he finished with a game-high 38 points and 12 rebounds for his third double-double in as many games. The Skyforce's next game is tomorrow night at home against the same Yakama Sun Kings. Tip-off is set for 7:05 at the Sioux Falls Arena.
