
For Second Straight Year, Wings Stadium to Host The Great Lakes Burn Camp Parade

Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to "The Annex" and "The Cube," announces that for the second year, the complex will be the starting point for The Great Lakes Burn Camp Parade this Sunday, August 13th.
Over 100 campers from all across the state will come to Wings Stadium to register for the 12th Annual Summer Great Lakes Burn Camp. The camp runs from Sunday, August 13th and concludes Friday, August 18th. Once again, the camp will be held at the Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center located at 6225 North 29th Street.
Registration for the camp this Sunday will begin at 11a.m. Kalamazoo's favorite mascot, Slappy will be greeting the campers and the K-Wings will also have both the Colonial and Tarry Cups on hand.
The campers will depart Wings Stadium, 3600 Vanrick Drive at 1p.m. The kids will ride to camp in a parade of fire trucks proudly provided by fire departments and individuals, along with over 400 motorcyclists from all across Michigan.
The parade route from Wings Stadium to the camp will be as follows:
Sprinkle Road north "ML" Avenue
"ML" Avenue to River Street
River Street to Kings Highway
Kings Highway to M-96
M-96 to 37th Street
37th Street to camp entrance
The Great Lakes Burn Camp provides a unique experience that promotes healing, self-esteem, confidence and general well-being for burn injured children.
Over the years, the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings have formed a strong bond with the camp. Last season, Wings Stadium and the K-Wings raised over $32,000 for the Great Lakes Burn Camp through their Annual World Famous St. Patrick's Day Green Ice Jersey Auction.
Stadium Management Company owns both the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities, that plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
