Football Club Appalled

Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release

Angry and saddened are two words to describe the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club's official response to the incident Sunday night when hooligans vandalized the yard of Rider Paul McCallum.

"This is a very sad day for the Rider nation" said Roughrider Chairman Garry Huntington.

"We have earned an enviable reputation right across Canada as having the classiest and most passionate fans to be found anywhere.

"To have this reputation shattered by an act of wanton vandalism has resulted in an outpouring of outrage from hundreds of "Rider Priders" who have condemned this act as an isolated incident carried out by thugs who are not Rider fans, " said Huntington.

"Paul and his family have been an important part of this community for over seven years. They live here, work here, raise their family here and are making contributions every day to our city and on behalf of the club and true Rider fans everywhere I want to express our sorrow for what happened. This is not who we are. We win together. We lose together and we cannot express strongly enough how sorry we are over this incident", Huntington concluded.
