Grey Cup Organizing Committee set for 2004 championship

OTTAWA – Nearly three years of preparations to stage the 92nd Grey Cup are complete, and the organizing committee for the 2004 Canadian Football League championship game is ready for one of the biggest weeks in Ottawa's sports history.

With both East and West division winners en route to the nation's capital for the showdown between the Toronto Argonauts and B.C. Lions, football fans from throughout the country will get the opportunity to enjoy a week-long festival in addition to a brilliant showcase of top football on Sunday, November 21st. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. next Sunday, with the capacity of Frank Clair Stadium temporarily increased to 51,242.

"This is a big week for us and it's been a long time in the making," said Brad Watters, president of Grey Cup 2004. "A lot of hard work and planning has gone into the preparation of the festival and staging a very successful Grey Cup. We're looking forward to welcoming the nation's football fans all week long."

More than 40 different events are on tap during the week-long Kickin' It in the Capital Grey Cup Festival. Among the major game day highlights are musical entertainment provided by The Tragically Hip (half-time), and Keshia Chanté (national anthem).

The Grey Cup game sells out year after year and the 2004 championship, like all others, is on track to be a sell out. A limited number of end zone seats are available through Ticketmaster at 613-755-1166.

The 92nd Grey Cup Game will be held on Sunday, November 21 at Frank Clair Stadium in Ottawa. The Renegades are honoured to host Canada's premiere sporting festival and event. As an organization, the Renegades hope to put on a show that will be regarded as one of the best Grey Cup festivals ever. In Ottawa, the Kickin' it in the Capital Grey Cup Festival begins on Wednesday, November 17, featuring celebration events at various locales throughout the city, leading up to the game.
