Fondy's Four Goals Lead Louisville to 5-1 Win Over Harrisburg

Louisville City FC News Release
Harrisburg, PA (August 12, 2015) -- After their six-game winning streak was snapped a week ago, Louisville City FC (12-4-5, 41 points) responded in a big way versus the Harrisburg City Islanders (8-8-4, 28 points). Louisville scored early and often in their 5-1 rout of the Harrisburg City Islanders on Wednesday night behind a monster performance from star striker Matt Fondy, who scored a career high four goals.
It didn't take long for Louisville to get in front. Just two minutes into the contest, Enrique Montano's corner kick picked out the foot of Matt Fondy who flicked it past the keeper for the earliest goal in Lou City history.
Fondy was just getting started. After a good defensive play in the 13th minute, Montano got Fondy through on a long pass down the middle of the field. Fondy's right-footed shot deflected off of the Islanders' keeper, but Noble couldn't do enough to keep it out and Louisville led 2-0.
With the quickest brace Louisville City has seen, Fondy continued to seek out goals. Just a minute after his second goal, the California-native was one-on-one with the keeper, but was bested by Noble on this occasion. In the 18th minute Louisville's goal scoring leader had another chance when he connected on a Bryan Burke cross. Fondy redirected the ball off the crossbar, and the score remained the same.
Kadeem Dacres got on the scoresheet just a few minutes later when he slammed home a brilliant pass from Montano. A complete inverse from the previous match where Louisville trailed 3-0 after 22 minutes, but the visitors were not done tacking on to their lead.
Just before intermission, Niall McCabe was taken down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Fondy stepped up to take the penalty for the first time since he was denied versus Pittsburgh back in April. Tonight was Fondy's night. His shot to the keepers left rippled the net, giving Lou City a 4-0 lead at the break.
Harrisburg City would pull one back in the 57th minute. Jose Barill stayed onside and Andy Lubahn served one on a platter for Barill to smash into the back of the net.
However, any thoughts of a Harrisburg miracle comeback were completely diminished when Fondy finished his fourth of the match in a style Louisville fans have become accustomed to seeing. Bryan Burke took the ball down the right flank and crossed it into the six-yard box when Fondy did just enough to give the visitors a 5-1 lead.
The match ended with both teams exchanging chances and a down pour of rain at the Skyline Sports Complex. The final whistle officially put Louisville City FC just three points behind Rochester for the top spot in the league.
Louisville will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Tulsa to take on the Roughnecks. The club will return home on August 22nd for another huge match with third place Charleston. Fans can get tickets for the match by visiting LouisvilleCityFC.com/tickets
