Fogelson Named N.L. Pitcher Of The Week

FARGO, N.D. - Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks LHP Scott Fogelson has been named the Northern League Pitcher of the Week for the period ending May 30, the Northern League announced today.

Fogelson, who is playing his second season with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, is yet to allow a run in the 2010 season. After his first two starts in ‘10, he is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA yielding only six hits over 14 innings of work. On his way to being named Northern League Pitcher of the Week for the span ending May 30th, he only walked two while striking out a league-leading 15 batters. In each of his starts, he hurled seven shutout innings yielding only three hits.

Originally signed by the RedHawks on February 3rd, 2009, the 6-2 195-pound lefty pitched the entire '09 season for F-M. He went 3-2 with a 3.66 ERA, starting 15 games for the ‘Hawks, including making two appearances in the playoffs for the eventual champions.

Including his last regular season start of '09, he has now thrown 19 consecutive scoreless innings. The five-year veteran played collegiately at Emporia State University (KS) and began his professional career in 2005 with the Northern League after signing with Lincoln as a non-drafted free agent. Midway through his rookie season with the Saltdogs, his contract was purchased by the San Diego Padres organization. Over his career, he has also played for three different teams in the independent Frontier League prior to signing with the RedHawks.

Kansas City T-Bones 2B Jacob Blackwell was selected the Northern League Player of the Week for the period ending May 30. He batted .357 with five doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI and eight runs scored in ten games.
