Fog and Rain Suspends Jackals Finale vs. Ottawa

New Jersey Jackals News Release
To close out the month of May, the New Jersey Jackals drubbed the Ottawa Champions 12-1 before inclement weather forced the game to be suspended during the third inning. Mariel Checo made his starting pitching debut for the Jackals after being signed earlier in the day.
Through his three innings of work, the righty only gave up only one earned run and struck out four. Shortstop Daniel Bick scored after being driven in by Ottawa right fielder Sebastien Boucher.
New Jersey's offense came alive on the last day of its homestretch for the local fans.
Daniel Canela's opposite field home run started the scoring in the second inning, but the floodgates truly opened up in the third. Brooks Carey's team put up 10 runs in just 2/3 of an inning with some help from mother nature.
Ottawa left fielder Coco Johnson lost a David Harris pop fly in the thick fog that had settled on Yogi Berra Stadium, allowing the Jackals cleanup hitter to earn a triple with two outs in the inning. Four more runs would end up scoring after that gaffe.
Following yet another Jackals run, crew chief MJ Beaver called a weather delay on account of increasingly heavy rain and an already prevalent fog. Following a brief pause, officials suspended the game. The remainder will be played on July 5 before the next time the Champions come to New Jersey.
