SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will seek to bounce back with a win when they take on the Harrisburg Senators in game two of a three-game series at Metro Bank Park tonight. Last night, Harrisburg scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning and held off a Richmond rally in the ninth in a 4-3 win over the Flying Squirrels. The Senators were led by centerfielder Brian Goodwin, who reached base in three of his five plate appearances and scored two runs, and starter Trevor Holder, who limited Richmond to five hits and two runs, only one of which was earned, in six innings of work. Mark Minicozzi and Juan Perez had two hits apiece and Minicozzi drove in two runs for Richmond. Brian Broderick (1-0) earned the win in relief for Harrisburg and Richmond reliever Chris Wilson (1-1) was charged with the loss. Erik Davis recorded the final out and picked up his fifth save. The Flying Squirrels went 13-8 against Harrisburg in 2011. Richmond is 23-19 all-time against the Senators and the club is 12-9 all-time at Metro Bank Park. The two teams will meet 20 times in 2012, 10 times in Harrisburg and 10 times in Richmond. The Flying Squirrels swept Harrisburg in an abbreviated two-game series at Metro Bank Park in early May (5/7-5/9). Harrisburg won two out of three games against the Flying Squirrels at The Diamond in mid-May (5/15-17). Richmond won four out of five games when the two clubs met in Harrisburg in mid-July (7/12-15). Following this three-game series, the two teams will meet again at The Diamond for a three-game series August 7-9.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: LHP Chris Gloor vs. RHP Ryan Perry Gloor: Makes his twenty-seventh appearance and his eighth start of the season for the Flying Squirrels tonight. In his last start, Gloor matched his season and career-high by allowing eight hits and he allowed three earned runs along with two walks and four strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched at Erie Sunday. He received a no-decision in Richmond's 7-6 setback. Tonight's game will be Gloor's third career appearance and second start against Harrisburg. He is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA against the Senators. Earlier this season, Gloor tossed 19.2 scoreless innings (May 1 through June 15), the longest scoreless innings streak by a Squirrels pitcher in 2012.

Last season, Gloor pitched for three different Giants affiliates, Advanced-A San Jose, the Rookie-Ball AZL Giants and Short-Season A Salem-Keizer. He posted a combined record of 3-1 with one save and a 3.34 ERA in 18 appearances. Gloor owns a 16-6 record with three saves and a 2.59 ERA in 105 career minor league appearances, including 14 starts. The Bay Shore, NY native was selected by the Giants in the 17th round of the 2009 June Draft out of Quinnipiac (CT) University.

Perry: Makes his twentieth appearance and his ninth start of the season tonight. Perry opened the season with Triple-A Syracuse, where he went 1-1 with two saves in four chances and a 4.50 ERA in 11 appearances. Perry also went 1-0 with a 10.13 ERA in seven appearances with the Washington Nationals. Since being transferred to Harrisburg, Perry has compiled a 1-2 mark with a 1.82 ERA in eight starts. In his last start, Perry allowed two hits and no runs along with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings pitched at Trenton Sunday. He received a no-decision in Harrisburg's 3-2 setback. Tonight's game will be Perry's second career start against Richmond. He is 0-0 with a 1.80 ERA (1 ER/5.0 IP) against the Flying Squirrels. The right-hander split the 2011 campaign between the Detroit Tigers and the Toledo Mud Hens, Detroit's Triple-A affiliate. In 36 appearances with the Tigers, he went 2-0 with a 5.35 ERA. In 20 appearances with Toledo, Perry went 3-0 with seven saves and a 3.03 ERA. In parts of four seasons, Perry owns a career record of 6-6 with two saves and a 4.36 ERA in 156 Major League appearances. Perry boasts a career minor league record of 7-5 with 16 saves and a 2.65 ERA in 64 appearances, including eight starts. He was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 2008 June Draft out of the University of Arizona. He was acquired by Washington in a trade that sent RHP Collin Balester to Detroit on December 9, 2011.

THE REAL DON JUAN: Flying Squirrels outfielder Juan Perez is in the midst of a hot stretch at the plate. After going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and a run scored in last night's game, Perez is batting .333 (13-for-39) with three home runs, eight RBIs and six runs scored in his last ten games. He also extended his current hitting streak to nine games and enters tonight's game with a chance to become the second Squirrel to post a hit streak of 10 games or more (Gary Brown has had two 12-game hit streaks) this season. Additionally, Perez continues to thrive against Harrisburg. In six games against the Senators this season, Perez is batting .545 (12-for-22) with one home run, two doubles, two triples and six RBIs. Perez boasts a .395 (34-for-86) career average against Harrisburg with two home runs, six doubles, four triples and 17 RBIs in 26 games (2011-12).

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD: Mark Minicozzi has fared well to his spot in the middle of the Richmond lineup. After going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs in last night's game, Minicozzi is batting .450 (9-for-20) with four RBIs and four runs scored in his last five games and he is hitting .382 (13-for-34) in his last ten games. Additionally, the former East Carolina standout has posted a .333 batting average (6-for-18) with two doubles and three RBIs in five games against the Senators this season.
