Flyers select Morrison in third round

The Philadelphia Flyers selected Saskatoon Blades goaltender Adam Morrison in the 3rd round, 80th overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal today.

Morrison, an 18-year-old from Surrey, BC, just ended his rookie season with the Blades, playing in 13 regular season games and sporting a 9-1-1 record. He had a 2.49 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.

The goaltender, who checks in at 6'3 and 170 lbs., goes to a Flyers team that finished last season 3rd in the Atlantic Division and 9th overall in the NHL. Morrison is the first pick of the Flyers in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Morrison was drafted by the Blades in the 3rd round (49th overall) in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft.
