
Flames select Patterson in seventh round

The Calgary Flames selected Saskatoon Blades center Gaelan Patterson in the 7th round, 201st overall at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in Montreal today.
Patterson, a 19-year-old who was born in La Ronge, Saskatchewan but grew up in Saskatoon, just wrapped up his third season with the Blades, picking up 22 goals and 35 assists for 57 points in 71 games to go along with 41 penalty minutes. In 7 playoff games, Patterson scored 1 goal and added 1 assist for 2 points.
The center goes to a Flames team that finished 2nd in the Northwest Division last season and 10th overall in the NHL.
The 6'0, 205 lb Patterson was drafted by the Blades in the 3rd round (34th overall) in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft.
