Schaumburg Flyers News Release

GARY, IN - Another game at the Steel Yard, and another loss. The Flyers fell 8-2 to the RailCats Tuesday and are now 0-8 in Gary this season, and 5-32 in the last 37 against the RailCats, dating back to June of last season.

Mike Massaro led off the game with a single and moved to second when Eric McNamee walked. Cristian Guerrero then swatted an RBI single to score Massaro, putting the RailCats up 1-0 after one.

For the fourth consecutive loss, the Flyers gave up an inning of more than three runs. This time, it came in the second. Mike Rohde and Brett Wallace hit back-to-back singles to start the frame, and after Jeff Beachum bunted, Massaro scored two with a double. Jordan Czarniecki followed with a single, and Guerrero once again came through with two outs, scoring Massaro and Czarniecki to balloon the lead to 5-0.

The Flyers got single runs in the third and fifth, both times with Travis Brown scoring Antoan Richardson on singles.

Gary would add one in the third when Beachum singled home Rohde, one in the sixth when Haake scored Beachum with a single, and one in the seventh when Jay Pecci scored on a wild pitch.

Brown was the only Flyer to record multiple hits, going 3-3 with a walk. Guerrero led the RailCats charge, driving in three with a 2-4 night.

Starter Alain Quijano (3-4) took the loss for the Flyers, allowing six runs on seven hits through only two innings of work. The Flyers used five pitchers in the game, including Craig Maddox, who pitched a scoreless eighth. Gary's Chris Jones (6-2) notched the win, allowing only two runs on six hits over seven innings.

RHP Garrett Holleran (2-2, 2.81) takes the ball for Gary tomorrow against Schaumburg's RHP Ed Almonte (4-8, 5.40), with the first pitch being thrown at 7:00.
