Hartford Yard Goats News Release

HARTFORD- Florida native Montana DuRapau pitched out of a second-and-third one out jam in the eighth inning and hurled a scoreless ninth, as the Altoona Curve held on for a 4-3 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats, Friday night, before a capacity crowd of 6,850 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. It was the third capacity crowd of the season and 14th sellout for the Yard Goats.

The Curve snapped a 3-3 deadlock with an unearned run in the eighth inning, when Jordan George reached on a two-base error by right fielder Mylz Jones and scored on a double by Stephen Alemais. DuRapau then shut down the Goats', after wiggling off the hook, to help deal Hartford (26-29) it's season-high seventh straight loss.

Both starting pitchers Jesus Tinoco of Hartford and Taylor Hearn of Altoona pitched scoreless baseball through the first five innings. The Curve broke through in the sixth, when Ke'Bryan Hayes opened the inning with a single, advanced to third on a ground out and fly out and scored on an infield single by Bralin Jackson.

The Yard Goats bounced back with three in their half of the sixth, chasing Hearn. A one out double by Forest Wall and back-to-back walks set the stage for Chris Rabago's three-run double to left field. However, the Hartford lead did not last long, as Logan Hill, who entered the game in the last of the sixth slugged a two-run homer into the upper deck in right-center to tie the game, 3-3 in the top of the seventh. Tinoco was removed one out later. He pitched 6 1/3 innings, his longest outing of the season, and yielded three runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out eight, tying his season high for strike outs.

Rabago's three-run double paced the Hartford attack, while Hayes, the son of former major league player Charlie Hayes, had four hits, including three doubles and a run scored for Altoona (26-24).

Game two of the series is Saturday night at 6:05. RHP Peter Lambert will start for Hartford against RHP Austin Coley for Altoona. The game will be televised on Vantage Sportsnet, broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
