Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Harrisburg, Pa. - Harrisburg's Daniel Johnson delivered a walk-off RBI single with one-out in the 11th inning, as the Senators (27-25) beat the Portland Sea Dogs (18-35), 5-4 on Friday night at FNB Field.
Portland could not advance their new-rules runners in the extra innings, as Austen Williams (2-1) fanned five over two frames to earn the win. Adam Lau (0-2) yielded the unearned run in the 11th to take the loss.
Kyle Hart (ND) had a strong start for Portland, despite a career-high six walks. Hart allowed a bases-loaded walk to Taylor Gushe in the third inning, his only run allowed. Hart worked six innings on three hits, one run, six walks and four strikeouts.
Harrisburg starter Kyle McGowin (ND) notched a quality start, fanning seven batters over six innings. Portland scored twice off McGowin, thanks to solo-homers from Chad De La Guerra and Josh Ockimey.
Portland added to a 2-1 lead, scoring twice off Bryan Harper in the eighth. A throwing error by RF Stephen Perez enabled De La Guerra to score from third. Luke Tendler gave the 'Dogs a 4-1 lead with a two-out RBI single.
The Senators rallied in their eighth inning with three runs off Trey Ball. Daniel Murphy (MLB Rehab) led off with a single and Gushe hit a two-run homer to right. Later in the inning, Khayyan Norfolk tied the game with an infield single.
Harrisburg had Adam Eaton in the lineup on an MLB Rehab Assignment, and he went 0-for-2 with a walk.
Trevor Kelley was excellent in relief, hurling 2.1 hitless frames, fanning two batters in the ninth with a runner at third.
The Sea Dogs and Harrisburg Senators (Nationals affiliate) continue their three-game series on Saturday night at FNB Field. Lefty Matt Kent (2-3, 3.53) takes on Righty Luis Reyes (4-5, 4.72). First pitch from Harrisburg, Pa is 6:00 PM.
