Florida Firecats News Release

The arenafootball2 Florida Firecats ended a three game skid at home with a 69-53 victory against the Manchester Wolves. With the win Florida improved to 4-6 while Manchester dropped to 4-5.

Florida got a pair of defensive stops in the first half while building a 33-20 lead heading into the break. The defense was spurred on by the return of defensive lineman Terrance Chapman, who had a one sack and defensive back James McCoy who had an interception in his first game with the Firecats this season. The teams traded touchdowns in the second half with each team finding the endzone five times in the games final 30 minutes.

Quarterback Chris Wallace, who finished the night tying a personal best with nine touchdown passes, spread the ball around allowing five different receivers to get into the endzone. Brent Burnside collected a team high four touchdowns through the air.

Emery Sammons and Deyon Willams kept the Wolves in the game with eleven receptions each with Sammons scoring four touchdowns. Manchester ran 58 plays for 330 yards but also had 15 penalties for 92 yards as well.

The Firecats have a bye next week before heading out on their longest road trip of the season at Central Valley on June 13th. The Manchester Wolves return home to host the Albany Firebirds in a divisional match up next week.
