Lake Elsinore, CA - Manny Flores turned in his best performance of the year on Saturday night, as the Quakes knocked off the Lake Elsinore Storm by a final of 6-2 at the Diamond in Lake Elsinore.
Flores (2-4) worked a season-high seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits for his second win as a Quake.
The Quake offense came up with big hits all night long, as all six of their runs were scored with two outs.
Adam Younger put the Quakes on the board in the second, as his two-out single plated Clay Fuller and Dwayne Bailey for a 2-0 lead over Storm starter Erik Davis (7-3).
In the third, Gabe Jacobo ripped a two-out triple, scoring Rian Kiniry for a 3-0 lead. Fuller followed by reaching on a throwing error, as Jacobo scored to make it a 4-0 advantage for the Quakes.
Alexi Amarista enjoyed his first multi-hit game since June 4th, as his second hit of the night produced yet another two-out run. Amarista's fourth-inning hit scored Bailey, giving the Quakes a 5-0 lead.
The Storm finally got to Flores in the bottom of the fourth, as Robert Lara's two-out single scored Cole Figueroa to make it 5-1.
Jesus Lopez capped the Storm scoring in the seventh, as his RBI double scored Lara, cutting the Quakes' lead to three at 5-2.
Jacobo helped get that run back in the eighth, as he singled to open the inning, then scored on Bailey's two-out RBI single, making it a 6-2 game.
Jeremy Berg was tough out of the bullpen, as he struck out five of the seven hitters he faced over two scoreless innings to finish the game.
The win for the Quakes (2-1, 41-32) gives Lake Elsinore (1-2, 47-26) consecutive losses for the first time in more than two months. Rancho Cucamonga looks to make it three straight over the Storm to open the second half, sending Orangel Arenas (1-0) to the hill in Sunday's 5:05pm game. Lake Elsinore has not yet named a starter for Sunday's series-finale.
