JetHawks Defeat Ports 10-6

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks scored eight runs in the bottom of the third to open up a 9-3 lead en route to a 10-6 victory over Stockton in the finale of a four-game series at Clear Channel Stadium Sunday. Dallas Keuchel tossed seven strong innings and earned his fourth win of the season. The Ports jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Stephen Parker delivered an RBI single and Michael Spina added an RBI groundout in the frame as Keuchel surrendered three hits and a walk.
Facing a 3-1 deficit, the JetHawks broke through for eight runs off Ports starter Shawn Haviland in the bottom of the third. Federico Hernandez smacked a two-run single and Lancaster received RBI singles from Lee Cruz, Brandon Barnes, Jay Austin and Andy Simunic in the inning. Lancaster sent 13 batters to the plate and capitalized on two Stockton errors to chase Haviland (6-4) from the contest.
Meanwhile, Keuchel (4-5) turned in another quality start for the JetHawks, allowing three earned runs in seven innings of work.
Stockton struck for two runs off JetHawks reliever David Berner in the ninth, including a solo home run from Ryan Ortiz, but Berner completed the frame to seal Lancaster's victory.
The JetHawks will travel to Modesto for the start of a six-game road trip on Monday. Lancaster will start lefty Shane Wolf (4-4, 5.28 ERA). Modesto is expected to counter with LHP Kenny Durst (7-4, 496 ERA).
