Florence Y'alls
Washington, Pennsylvania: The Freedom headed out on a short trip away from Champion Window Field, for a three game set against the Washington Wild Things. Things were rocky from the start.
Washington put up five runs in the first two innings, but the Freedom were hanging by putting up four of their own. Florence though just couldn't keep up, losing to Washington, 10-4. Greg Stone hit his second homerun of the season, a solo shot for his only hit of the night. Wally Quigg made his one hit count with an RBI. Greg Buscher went 2-4, and catcher Nick Hiter went 1-3 with two RBI. The Freedom got a strong performance from their bullpen, six and two/thirds innings with only two earned runs allowed.
Game two of the series in Washington is tonight, first pitch is at 7:05. You can follow the action on www.florencefreedom.com. The Freedom return home Friday, to welcome in the Gateway Grizzlies for a three game series.
