Florence Offense Musters Three Hits in Loss at Sussex County

Augusta, Nj. - With two runs in the eighth inning, the Sussex County Miners took game one of a three-game set with the Florence Y'alls on Tuesday night at Skylands Stadium.
A leadoff walk and a pair of doubles did the Y'alls in during the bottom of the eighth on Tuesday night. Florence took the lead in the top of the third when Connor Crane scored on an error.
Jared Cheek tossed five innings of one-run, five-hit ball and sent down eight Miners down swinging to bring his season strikeout total to 50. Alex Wagner gets credited with the loss in two innings of relief.
Harrison DiNicola led the way offensively, with a single and a double. Axel Johnson and Crane also reached base twice on Tuesday night.
Florence returns to Skylands Stadium on Wednesday night game two of the series against Sussex County to continue a nine-game-in-ten-day road trip. Florence is currently 2-2 on the east coast trip.
