Flash Use Strong Second Half to Defeat Mad Ants
January 31, 2011 - NBA G League (G League)
Utah Flash News Release
The Utah Flash (14-12) had an offensive-charged third quarter that solidified their win against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (13-16). The final score was 92-84.
The Flash game out slow as Fort Wayne maintained the lead 53-41 as the game went into halftime. Dupree and Gaffney both led the team, with 12 points and six rebounds, a piece. Darnell Lazare led Fort Wayne with 14 points and six rebounds.
Dupree's two-pointer gave the Flash the lead with less three minutes to play in the third quarter, making the score 64-63. The Flash continued their offensive rally, outscoring the Mad Ants 33-12 and finishing the quarter up by nine points (74-65).
The Flash polished off the game limiting the Mad Ant's offensive effort in the second half.
"We only gave up 31 points in the second half," said Head Coach Kevin Young. "Which is unbelievable. They did a great job."
Dupree led the Flash with 22 points and nine rebounds; Gaffney also had nine rebounds. Ryan Thompson came off the bench for a season-high 19 points and seven rebounds. Russell led the Mad Ants with 24 points. Fort Wayne's Lazare had the only double-double of the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
The Flash will be on the road until Monday, February 7, when they return home to play the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The game will be at the UCCU Events Center and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets to this game, and all games, are still available by calling (801) 434-HOOP (4667).
