Flames Assign Three Players to Adirondack

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today that they have assigned centre Markus Granlund, goaltender Joni Ortio, and defenceman Tyler Wotherspoon to the Adirondack Flames of the American Hockey League before the NHL All-Star weekend.

Granlund, a Finnish-born centre, has played 29 games for Calgary this season and he has recorded five goals and eight assists. The 21-year-old was drafted in the second round (45th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Ortio, a native of Turku, Finland, has played five games with Calgary this season posting a 4-1-0 record with a shutout, a .931 SV% and a 1.98 GAA. He has also featured for Adirondack in 27 games this year, posting a 17-8-1 record with three shutouts and a 2.52 GAA.

Wotherspoon, Calgary's second round pick (57th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, has played 38 games for Adirondack this season recording 15 points (2G, 13A). The Surrey, BC native played 14 games for the NHL's Flames last season and had four assists and four PIMs.
