
Flacco Powers Keys Attack

Keys 1B Mike Flacco continued his outstanding introduction to the Carolina League going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI's powering the Keys to a third consecutive win in Wilmington. The Keys defeated the Blue Rocks 5-2.
Flacco got the attack going with a high fly ball over the head of Wilmington left fielder Carlo Testa. Flacco legged out a triple and later scored on a two-out RBI-single by C Brian Ward.
Leading 3-0 in the fifth inning it was Flacco once more with an opportunity to up the Keys advantage. The bases were loaded and two men were out and Flacco lined a single to left field scoring two Keys to take a 5-0 lead.
Keys starter Ryohei Tanaka ended a five-start winless stretch with six steady innings and Chris Petrini and Clay Schrader finished the job for Frederick. The Keys are now 9-4 against Wilmington this season. A night after going 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position, Wilmington was a paltry 2-for-14 in that situation Saturday night.
The Keys now head to Salem for the first of four games against the Red Sox. The series opener is Sunday, July 17th at 4:05 p.m. with coverage beginning 20 minutes prior on 1450-AM The Source. LHP Nick Haughian will make the start after striking out 12 batters his last time out.
Frederick returns home for a week long homestand with a Tote Bag giveaway to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, July 22nd. It is Going Green Night presented by the Frederick Department of Solid Waste Management.
