River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo. - The Rascals allowed five runs on two walks and three hits in the eighth inning as the Freedom added to a 2-0 lead en-route to a 7-0 shutout of River City in game two of the series.

Rascals starter Keli'i Zablan (4-3) took the loss after allowing two solo homeruns, one in the second to Eddie Rodriguez and one in the fourth to Jim Jacquot for a 2-0 Florence lead. The Rascals coaxed five walks but added just three hits against Freedom starter Andres Caceres (5-2), stranding 12 on the bases for the game, six in scoring position.

Rascal hitting coach Caleb Curry was activated and played center field while finishing the game 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a walk, but struck out to leave the bases loaded in the sixth before River City left runners and second and third in the seventh.

The Freedom and Rascals square off in the rubber game of the series tomorrow with first pitch set for 7:05. Florence sends Alex Lewis (2-6, 4.29) to the mound against the Rascals' Doug Shields (2-0, 4.82).
