Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announce today that the team has signed five players to standard contracts for the upcoming 2015-16 season. Goaltender Philippe Cadorette, center Marcus Hinds, left wing Christophe Lalonde, defenseman Jordan McNaughton, and right wing Alexandre Ranger each agreed to terms to play in Norfolk through this season.

Cadorette, 20, graduates to professional hockey following four seasons with Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), including two seasons under current Admirals head coach Eric Veilleux. A 5-foot-11, 193-pound netminder, Cadorette finished his career in Baie-Comeau with a 107-58-13 record, 2.82 goals-against average, and .903 save percentage. He earned CHL Goaltender of the Week honors twice as well as a First and Second All-Star Team selection, and had the highest save percentage among all QMJHL goalies in 2013-14.

Hinds, 21, is a 6-foot-2, 188-pounder out of Toronto with three years of experience in the QMJHL. In 176 games for Blainville-Boisbriand and Cape Breton, Hinds compiled 44 goals and 55 assists for 99 career points and a plus-31 rating. Hinds joins the Admirals fresh off his most productive season in major junior, scoring 43 points in 43 regular season games.

Lalonde, 21, concluded a long junior career in the QMJHL this past season by appearing in two AHL games with Adirondack. Lalonde is still in search of his first professional point after a 290-game tenure in the 'Q' with Lewiston, Moncton and Shawinigan which saw him put up 110 goals, 97 helpers and 207 points. A prolific option on the attack, the St. Eustache, Quebec local eclipsed the 25-goal plateau in three of his five seasons, including a 2014-15 campaign that consisted of 35 goals and 73 points in just 50 games. Lalonde made his pro debut with the Flames on April 10.

McNaughton, 21, begins his professional career as a decorated blueliner from the Truro Bearcats of the Maritime Junior A Hockey League. The offensively-minded McNaughton logged the most goals (16), assists (40) and points (56) of any league defenseman in 2013-14 and capped the year with a league championship. Last season, the 5-foot-11, 195-pounder from Komoka, Ontario was named the MJAHL's Best Defenseman and a First Team All-Star on the heels of a 19-goal, 56-point season.

Ranger, 19, is reunited with both Cadorette and Veilleux after spending two seasons as a part of Baie-Comeau Drakkar from 2012-14. The right winger leaves the QMJHL following 224 games across four seasons, three with Baie-Comeau and one with Chicoutimi. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound product of Chateauguay, Quebec accumulated 65 goals and 68 assists for 133 total points, and is another Admiral newcomer coming off his best season ever, a 55-point output in 56 games.

The Norfolk Admirals open the 2015-16 regular season at Scope on October 16 versus the Wheeling Nailers. Purchase season tickets or 10-pack tickets to reserve your seat today by calling 757-640-1212 or visiting NorfolkAdmirals.com.
