Solar Bears Complete Trade, Signing

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, have announced that the team has acquired the rights to forwards Tyler Currier and Lindsay Sparks from the Missouri Mavericks in exchange for the ECHL rights to defenseman Bryce Aneloski. Orlando has also agreed to terms with forward Ludwig Karlsson.

Currier, 27, split the 2014-15 campaign between the Alaska Aces and Missouri, finishing the season with 16 points (8g-8a) and 89 penalty minutes in 52 games. The right-handed shooter made his pro debut with Missouri in 2013-14 during the team's final season in the Central Hockey League, recording nine points (4g-5a) and 22 penalty minutes in 35 games.

Prior to turning pro, the Anchorage, Alaska native played college hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage (2009-13), collecting 15 points (7g-8a) and 116 penalty minutes in 103 games with the Nanooks.

Sparks, 24, spent the majority of last season with Missouri after appearing in one game with the Cincinnati Cyclones, in which he went pointless. In 62 games with the Mavericks, Sparks potted 57 points (22g-35a) and 72 penalty minutes.

In 109 career games with the Fort Wayne Komets, South Carolina Stingrays, Greenville Road Warriors, Cincinnati and Missouri, the 5-9, 176-pound Sparks has tallied 80 points (29g-51a) and 94 penalty minutes.

The native of Oakville, Ontario played four years of college hockey at the University of Michigan (2009-13), where he posted 35 points (17g-18a) and 62 penalty minutes in 83 games for the Wolverines.

Aneloski, 25, recently signed an AHL contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, prompting the trade with Missouri, Brideport's AHL affiliate.

Karlsson, 24, split the 2014-15 season between the Idaho Steelheads and Missouri Mavericks while under contract to the NHL's Dallas Stars, posting 30 points (16g-14a) and 26 penalty minutes in 58 games. Karlsson also skated in two games with the Texas Stars of the AHL.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound forward has skated in 97 career ECHL games with Elmira, Idaho and Missouri, recording 54 points (27g-27a) and 30 penalty minutes. He has also skated 10 career AHL games with Binghamton and Texas, recording zero points.

Prior to turning pro, the native of Stockholm, Sweden spent two years at Northeastern University (2011-13). In 49 games with the Huskies, Karlsson scored 34 points (15g-19a) and 12 penalty minutes.
