IceMen Add Three More to Training Camp Roster; John Peterson Named New Broadcaster

Evansville, IN - The Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, and Head Coach Al Sims have announced the addition of three more players to the IceMen's Pre-season Roster. Goaltender Christoffer Bengtsberg, Defenseman Spencer Humphries, and Forward Thomas Gobeil are the latest additions.

Stockholm, Sweden native Christoffer Bengtsberg becomes the first goaltender signed for the upcoming 2015-16 ECHL season. Christoffer is 5'-10", 176 lbs. and is known as a technically skilled netminder with quick legs and a good glove. Since the 2006-07 season, he has played for a number of teams in Sweden. In 2006-07, the 25 year-old goalie played for HV71 in the Swedish Elite League (in Jonkoping) playing in 34 games and posting a 2.18 goals against average and a save percentage of .922. The following year, Christoffer returned to HV71 and in 26 games had a goals against average of 2.38 and save percentage of .923. In 2008, Bengtsberg would move to the Allsvenskan Swedish Hockey League, which is considered the second highest league in that country where he would play for a number of teams, posting impressive goals against averages of 2.43, 2.93, 2.74, 3.23, 2.88, 2.80, and 2.23 and save percentages always over 90% while averaging 27 games played per season. While playing for IF Troja-Ljungby in Ljungby, Sweden he appeared in 46 games in 2012-13, posting a goals against average of 2.88 and a save percentage of .905 and in 2013-14 he played in 41 games with a 2.80 goals against and .915 save percentage.

Defenseman Spencer Humphries returns to Evansville after playing in 15 games for the IceMen at the end of the season. Acquired from the Greenville Road Warriors on March 10th, the 23 year old Tsawwassen, British Columbia native scored 1 goal and 3 assists after netting 2 goals and 21 assists for Greenville. Overall, the 6'-2", 208 lbs blueliner played in 67 ECHL games last season with 3 goals and 24 assists. Prior to coming to the ECHL, Spencer played the 2013-14 season in the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League) with Prague Lev in the Czech Republic. Prior to turning pro in 2013-14, Humphries had an outstanding junior hockey career with both the Tri-City Americans and the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL (Western Hockey League) with his best season coming in 2012-13 in Calgary where in 70 games he scored 5 goals and added 33 assists and was an impressive +30.

Rookie Thomas Gobeil joins the IceMen following a junior hockey career in which he played in both the prestigious QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) and the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League). Gobeil, 20 years old, is a 6'-1", 220 lbs. right wing from St. Hubert, Quebec. In 155 games in the QMJHL with Bale-Comeau, Chicoutimi, and Val d'Or, Thomas scored 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points and also added 167 penalty minutes. Last season in the BCHL, Gobeil split time between Cowichan Valley and Victoria where in 41 games he lit the lamp 25 times and added 15 assists for 40 points.

IceMen Head Coach Al Sims will be available on Saturday afternoon starting at Noon at the "IceMen Day at Ellis Park" Town Hall Meeting to answer any questions about these players.

John Peterson Named IceMen Director of Media Relations & Broadcaster

Lake Elmo, Minnesota native John Peterson has been named the Evansville IceMen's new Director of Media Relations & Broadcaster. Peterson joins the organization from the Austin (Minnesota) Bruins of the North American Hockey League where he's been the team's broadcaster for the past two seasons. John has been a part of a successful on-ice product as Austin has finished in first place in the NAHL Central Division the past two seasons posting records of 40-19-1 and 38-11-11. He's a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.

In addition to his broadcast work in Austin, John Peterson has also done play by play for Arizona State University sports. He also has previous sales experience with the NHL's Minnesota Wild where he was a part of the sales team setting a franchise record for total ticket revenue in the 2014-15 season.

John Peterson should be in Evansville full-time by the last week in August.

Evansville opens the 2015-2016 season on Saturday, October 17th at the Ford Center against the Indy Fuel at 7:15pm. 2015-16 IceMen season tickets are now on sale by calling an IceMen Account Executive at (812) 421-GOAL (4625), Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.
