
Five members of Wave named MISL All-Stars

MILWAUKEE, WI (January 18, 2005) - The MISL announced today the 16 players who will represent the league in the 2006 All-Star Game to be held at the U.S. Cellular Arena on February 11 at 7:00 p.m. Forwards Todd Dusosky and Greg Howes, defenders Troy Dusosky and Matt Schmidt and goalkeeper Nick Vorberg will represent the Wave in this year's game.
Todd Dusosky and Greg Howes are currently tied with Baltimore's Aduato Neto (another All-Star) for the league lead with 23 points. Dusosky has eight goals and a league-leading 15 assists in his 11th season in the league. The co-captain and three-time All-Star was the Championship Series MVP in 2005 when the Wave won their fourth Championship. Howes' 23 points have come via 13 goals and 10 assists in 11 games. The two-time defending MISL MVP ranks in the top four in the league in both goals and assists. This will be his third All-Star game.
Defenders Troy Dusosky and Matt Schmidt have been leaders on one of the MISL's top defensive groups. Dusosky ranks 12th in the league's scoring race and fourth on the Wave with 11 points. He has six goals, five assists and eight blocks this season; his fourth year as an All-Star. Milwaukee native, Matt Schmidt, is making his first All-Star Game appearance. He leads the MISL with 23 blocks and is tied for fifth on the Wave in scoring with 10 points (eight goals and two assists). Dusosky (November) and Schmidt (December) were voted the MISL's Defensive Player of the Month for the first two months of the 2005-06 season.
Nick Vorberg will make his second All-Star appearance in goal. He was named the league's top goalkeeper for the season's first two months. The Grants Pass, Oregon, native leads the MISL in many statistical categories for goalkeepers, including: wins (8), goals against average (4.31), save percentage (72.7 percent), saves (125) and minutes (653).
This year's All-Star Weekend will be held in Milwaukee and is the first time the MISL has partnered with another country for competition. The MISL players will be competing against the Mexican Federation's National Futbol Rapido team; which will feature a few players from the MISL.
The Milwaukee Wave was established in 1984 as one of six charter members of the American Indoor Soccer Association (AISA). In 2001, the Wave transitioned to being a successful member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). Through the guidance of head coach Keith Tozer, the winningest coach in Wave and North American indoor soccer history, the Wave has won four league titles (1997-98, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2004-05), seven regular season championships, and has made seven championship series appearances.
