
Philly Native Pat Morris Selected to 2006 MISL All-Star Game

Philadelphia, PA, January 18, 2006 - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that defender Pat Morris has been selected to the 2006 MISL All-Star Game, to be played on Saturday, February 11 at the U.S. Cellular Arena, home of the defending League Champion Milwaukee Wave. The nomination is the fourth consecutive honor for the Philadelphia native.
For the first time in League history, the event will feature the MISL All-Stars competing against the Mexican Federation's National Futbol Rapido Team. The all-star team is composed of 16 players, two goalkeepers, six defenders and eight midfielders/forwards, representing each of the six member clubs. The selection process used a panel of five voters, comprised of club personnel and local media members, from each team. The starting lineups for the MISL All-Star squad will be determined by fans via an online vote on the League's official website, www.MISL.net, beginning Sunday, January 22 and concluding on Sunday, February 5 at 11:59 pm ET. The results of the online polling will be announced at the Fiesta Garibaldi Commissioner's Dinner on Friday, February 10, when Cousins Sub 2006 MISL All-Star Weekend, presented by Time Warner Cable, officially kicks-off.
Selected to his fourth consecutive All-Star game, Morris continues to establish himself as one of the League's premier defenders both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. The seven-year veteran, who has recorded more than 250 goals and nearly 400 blocks, currently leads the KiXX with nine blocks and ranks tied for third with eight points on four goals and four assists in eight appearances this season. A Northeast Catholic and Philadelphia University product, Morris was named the 2005 MISL Defender of the Year after posting a League-high 93 blocks and 43 points (22 goals, 21 assists) in 36 games last season.
Morris is joined on the 2005 MISL All-Star backline by P.J. Wakefield and Danny Kelly of the Baltimore Blast, Matt Schmidt and Troy Dudosky of the hosting Milwaukee Wave and the Chicago Storm's Lazo Alavanja. The squad's midfielders/forwards are Adauto Neto and Giuliano Celenza of Baltimore, Chicago's Novi Marojevic, Ronnie Ekelund of the expansion California Cougars, the Wave's Greg Howes and Todd Dusosky and Shaun David and Jamar Beasley of the St. Louis Steamers. Milwaukee's Nick Vorberg and the Steamers' Brett Phillips are the unit's goalkeepers.
In addition, prior ot the voting, St. Louis Steamers defender Genoni Martinez, and Chicago Storm forwards Byron Alvarez and Jorge Valle were selected by and will compete for their native Mexican Federation's National Futbol Rapido Team. The complete team roster has not yet been released.
Morris and the Philadelphia KiXX square-off versus the defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Milwaukee Wave in a home-and-home series, commencing at the U.S. Cellular Arena on Friday, January 20. Kick-off is scheduled for 8:05 pm ET. The clubs then return to the City of Brotherly Love to conclude the series on Saturday, January 21. Game-time at the Wachovia Spectrum is slated for 7:05 pm ET with doors opening at 6:00 pm ET. The first 2,500 fans under 14 will receive a complimentary Shawn Boney Bobblehead Doll, courtesy of EwingCole.
