Everett Silvertips News Release
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kyle Olson earned a goal and added three assists to help the Tri-City Americans get past the Everett Silvertips, 5-1 before 2,732 fans at Toyota Center on Friday.
Coming to the end of five games in six days, the Silvertips seized their lone goal on a Jake Christiansen strike in the second period. Tri-City's Rylan Parenteau made 27 saves to pick up the win.
Jusso Valimaki put the Americans up 1-0 on a slapper from the left circle just 12 seconds into the game, and after a stretch of Silvertips puck control for 10 minutes, Morgan Geekie's wrister from the right circle extended to the lead to 2-0 with 1:20 to go in the period.
Carter Hart, starting in net for the Silvertips for the second straight night, was lifted to begin the second period in favor of Mario Petit, who turned away three grade-A threats early on to keep the Tips within striking distance. But moments after a monumental save, Kyle Olson parked a rebound, untouched at the left post with 4:54 to play and Vladislav Lukin finished a post-to-post feed with 3:18 left for a 4-0 lead.
Just 15 seconds later, Jake Christiansen's heave through traffic fooled Parenteau, blocker side for a 4-1 deficit. But the third period enabled the Americans to slip away on Dylan Coghlan's power play goal at 7:24, moments before Aaron Irving had a power play snipe from the left point negated from ruled contact in the crease.
Hart took the loss, while Petit made 18 saves.
