Madison Capitols News Release
Middleton, WI - NHL Central Scouting released it's preliminary list of Players to Watch for the 2020 NHL draft on Monday. This list included five total Capitols players, with three currently playing for the team and two listed as Capitols affiliates.
Madison Capitols roster players on NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List:
Carson Bantle (Forward) - C Rating
Ryan Kirwan (Forward) - C Rating
Kristof Papp (Forward) - C Rating
Madison Capitols affiliate players on NHL Central Scouting Preliminary List:
Ryan McGuire (Forward) - C Rating
Grant Riley (Goaltender) - C Rating
"When we look at the players on our roster, we're not surprised by the names that have made it onto the preliminary list," says head coach Garrett Suter. "Bantle, Kirwan, and Papp have stepped up and been huge for us this season, while McGuire and Riley showed they have what it takes last year during their brief stints."
A C-rating means the player is a candidate to be drafted in the 4th, 5th, or 6thround of the upcoming 2020 NHL Draft in Montreal, Canada. This is the first of several updates to the list that NHL Central Scouting will release this season.
"We only have five on the list right now, but there are some unsung heroes on this team that we expect to crack the list if they keep producing the way they have been," states Suter.
The USHL currently has 82 players with league ties on the preliminary list, following a record breaking season for the league with 52 active players being drafted.
This Friday will be your first opportunity to see these players in action at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena for the 2019-20 home opener. Ryan McGuire will make the trip down for the games this weekend as well.
