Fisher Cats, Manchester Christian Church Hosting One Day of Community on August 8

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats are teaming up once again with Manchester Christian Church to help local residents in need at One Day of Community on Saturday, August 8. The event will take place in downtown Manchester at Sheridan-Emmitt Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Local residents will be treated to thousands of backpacks of free school supplies and other fun activities. Everything is provided at no cost to the participants and no pre-registration is required. The event will be held rain or shine.

"It has given our organization a great amount of pride to watch this event continue to grow into such an impactful day for so many families in our community," said Fisher Cats President and General Manager, Rick Brenner. "We are fortunate to live and work in a place where there are several like-minded organizations who see the need in our community and have the resources to be able to help. We look forward to another fun, inspirational day next month."

"With One Day of Community we expect to provide important resources to several thousand individuals and families in Manchester that could use a little compassion," said Bo Chancey, Senior Pastor at Manchester Christian Church.

Many other local organizations are involved in the event including Easter Seals; Lil' Iguanas Children's Safety Foundation; Manchester Health Department; New Hampshire Healthy Families; Rise Again Outreach; Southern New Hampshire Services Head Start; WellSense Health Care; Teen Challenge; Straight Ahead Ministries; Manchester Community Health Center; the Manchester City Library; Easter Seals; Harbor homes SSVF; YWCA-NH; Girl Scouts of the Green & White Mountains, and the Manchester NAACP.

Donations for the event have been supplied by Internet Essentials from Comcast; John Cassidy; Aramark; New Hampshire Healthy Families; Page Street Leasing; Performance Foodservice l Northcenter, Kayem Foods, Inc.; Manchester Monarchs; FairPoint Communications; Coca-Cola of Northern New England; Reliable Equipment; Crown Trophy; MFS Investment Management; Walmart; Elizabeth Heck; the congregation of Manchester Christian Church; and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Sheridan-Emmett Park is located night across from Beech Street School, at 324 Beech Street in Manchester.
