Fisher Cats blank Aeros, move into first place

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Three New Hampshire pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout, while striking out fifteen batters in the Fisher Cats 6-0 win Monday night over the Akron Aeros, the Southern Division leaders.
Bubbie Buzachero (4-2) retired all 12 batters he faced in relief, while striking out six, to earn his fourth win. Buzachero came on in the fifth inning, in relief of starter Vince Perkins, who was making his first start since coming off the disabled list. Perkins did not allow a run in his four innings of work while on a strict pitch count. Perkins struck out seven, yielding two singles.
Brad Mumma worked a perfect ninth, striking out two in his first Fisher Cat Ballpark appearance.
New Hampshire (50-45) scored four runs in the last of the third inning off Akron starter and loser Jake Dittler (5-7). Catcher Curtis Thigpen (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI) started the inning with a double and advanced to third on a Brad Hassey's fly to right. Shortstop Raul Tablado (2-for-2, 1R, 1 RBI, 1 SB) walked. Center fielder Miguel Negron singled home Thigpen to make it 1-0. Tablado scored on a passed ball. After second baseman Ryan Roberts walked, right fielder Maikel Jova delivered a two-RBI single to center to make it 4-0.
The Fisher Cats added runs in the seventh on a Tablado RBI single and in the eighth on Thigpen's single.
The series continues tomorrow night with Akron right hander Bear Bay (1-1, 3.46) going against left hander Zach Jackson (3-3, 4.50). Tuesday night is Ladies Night at Fisher Cats Ballpark, and a fireworks show is scheduled after the game. Game time is 6:35pm.
