New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, N.H. - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) split a doubleheader with the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers Double-A affiliate) on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Game 1: Fisher Cats 7, SeaWolves 2
A two-run homer from Gunnar Heidt started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, and the Fisher Cats never trailed.
Fisher Cats starter Josh DeGraaf (W, 5-5) held the SeaWolves to two runs in five innings and struck out three to improve to .500 this season.
Corey Copping, acquired from the Dodgers in the trade for John Axford, struck out two in a perfect sixth inning of relief in his Fisher Cats debut, and Kirby Snead took care of the final three outs.
The Fisher Cats scored two in third with a bases-loaded walk to Cavan Biggio and an RBI single from Harold Ramirez. Biggio finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs, while Bo Bichette recorded the Fisher Cats lone multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored.
Game 2: SeaWolves 8, Fisher Cats 1
A tight game was blown open with six Erie runs in the top of the sixth inning. The first four batters of the inning reached base and came into score, and Willi Castro capped the rally with a two-run triple to end the scoring at 8-1.
Hector Perez (L, 0-1) struck out seven batters in five innings during his Blue Jays organizational debut. He was acquired from the Houston Astros organization as part of the trade for Roberto Osuna. Perez allowed an RBI single to Daz Cameron in the third and a sac fly by Josh Thole in the fourth. He scattered three singles and walked four hitters.
Biggio drove in New Hampshire's only run in Game 2, an RBI double to score Bo Bichette in the first inning. From there, the Fisher Cats went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position against A.J. Ladwig (W, 3-0).
The series and homestand conclude on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m., with a replica autographed baseball giveaway from Northeast Delta Dental for the first 1,000 fans, and kids run the bases after the game thanks to the New Hampshire State Liquor Commission, Division of Enforcement.
